Shake your sugar cravings!

May 3rd 2006 03:47
We all get cravings for sugar and for those with the extreme sweet tooth, this may be at a certain time everyday. In fact most people get food cravings around mid afternoon and/or late at night. Instead of munching on a mars bar or eating a bowl of ice cream, why not try and use your sugar cravings to help you achieve you training results. You shouldn’t have to struggle in your battle with the bulge because as Dr Phil days, “will power is not the key to weight loss”. Its about managing the urges to retreat to bad eating habits and most of all about overall balance. So rather than kick your sugar habits, why not trick them.

Instead of caving into your craving why not go for a protein shake, which can satisfy the need for sugar but the protein will not only help you tone up it will also leave you feeling full.

You aren’t just confined to shakes, in fact you can get chocolate bars and desserts in a variety of flavours and brands. You can mix them with low fat milk, water, fruit juice or fruit to make a tasty treat that won’t be at the expense of you weight loss success!

Today's tip for flatter abs

May 1st 2006 03:07
Everyone wants the perfect stomach whether you want washboard abs or you just want to get rid of that spare tyre you are lugging around. So what is the best exercise for rock hard abs?
well the truth is there is no one exercise! People often forget that the abdominals are made up of a number of muscles each needing its own focus. Most people do sit ups or crunches and think that is enough, however this only targets the upper abdominals.

In addition to this you need to do Lower ab work outs like the bicycle or leg extensions (lying on the floor) to help get rid of that gut. This area is especially useful for women who have had children.

Working the obliques (the muscles either side of the abs) will tone up those love handles. Simply modify your crunches by reaching to the opposite knee will get those muscles engaged. For those of you with lower back problems it is especially important that you have strong abs as these form part of the postural muscles that help stablise your back and give it support.

People often tell me that they have been doing abs exercises everyday for 2 weeks and haven’t seen any results. You have to remember that like any other muscle, your abs need time to repair and form. So I recommend leaving a day or two between 2 or 3 straight days of ab workouts in order for the best, and most visible results!
